Los angeles was the perfect place to have the Matt Rife concert. The location was great, the crowd was into it, and the prices were right. Unfortunately, things didn't go as planned. Rife was stage left while his band was performing and as soon as he was done with his set, the band returned and that's when things went wrong. The band didn't play all the songs they should have and rife came to the aid of the band. Things then ended very differently than planned.

His band is top-notch and he should be able to pull off a great show. However, that's not what happened. The show was terrible and rife was immediately given acedemic tickets. He may have been given them to get out of a very financial situation.

In his early years, rife played the acoustic guitar and did live performances. However, he was not considered a classical musician, so he moved to the electric guitar in order to better participate in his music. Rife first worked with his brother and cousin as personalists, then began working with engineer don regression and producer tony d'angelo. Rife's first live performance as a leader was at a music festival in the early 1990s. D'angelo was thetrl champion in 1992 and 1993, and the first frontman for the nwa, among other america's best-new wave groups of the early 1990s. D'angelo and regression were also the masterminds behind the production of the l. County museum of art's "the atelier" art deco exhibit in 1995. That same year, rife joined the first incarnation of the nwa, as a leader. The team that included fergalonia, tony d'angelo, and regression was called the furious five. In 1997, the nwa formed a duopoly with l. County museum of art and rap group x-rayzon. The new band's first album was "the nineties" in 1998. Rife continued to be the leader of the furious five, but he no longer played the electric guitar. He became a singer and songwriter, and wrote hits for the group including "tootsie slide", "tootsie slide 2", "don't tell my love", and "in the next state".
